We just had a wonderful 10 day break from our ‘normal’ lives to spend time with each other. What a time of refreshment! I got to see little characteristics of my kids I have never seen before. For instance did you know that Bode likes to wear a key chain clip because it makes him feel like me?

Nothing is more frustrating than reaching over to turn a light on and finding out that it has been unplugged. The fact is that you and I recognize that things have to be ‘connected’ to work. Even our beloved technology can only go so long before it must be connected to a power source.
With respect to our families, I observe that we are ‘connected’ in the sense that we are together, but ‘disconnected’ because we really don’t know each other’. For my generation, I wonder if the push to succeed financially has taken its toll on the family? I mean we were conditioned to pad our 401k’s, get the best job possible, work the hardest during our prime, and to retire with our feet in sand while overlooking the waves. I think about my own kids and how they don’t really care about my retirement (at least now), financial security, or how well I am doing with my social influence. At the age my kids are, they simply care about me hanging out with them.
You can only cram some many thoughts into a message. I wanted to drop this idea on your lap concerning Acts. 2:42-47, and more specifically Peter….think of it as the bonus material…especially if you were in second service on Sunday

If you look at 1 Peter 1:1 and 2 Peter 1:1 you will notice something very interesting. Although Peter missed the mark on many occasions, Jesus restored him and God used him in a mighty way. I want to point out a simple but very profound point for you and I to consider.
The first thing you need to know and always remember about Haiti is that things change. Today instead of doing our normal VBS program, we went to an orphanage, sanded walls, painted walls, gave shoes out, and painted faces. It was like a mini VBS with a small stint of physical labor.
