We Have Landed!

The past few years have been faith building. It started with an itch in the heart, continued with prayer, and ended with us stepping into the unknown.  Our departure from Charlotte was tearful in two ways.  We shed a few tears of sadness as we left friends and our church family of four and half years.  We also shed a few tears of joy as we drove towards St. Augustine, this city where God has called us to.  My first devotion that I had with God (in our new city) focused in on resting.  I believe it was a timely word as it reminded me that any work for the Lord apart from ‘rest’ in the Holy Spirit is manufactured.  This kind of makes me think of MAN YOU FRACTURED (see what I did there).  Seriously, we can’t do a thing for God unless He has prepared us, filled us, and empowered us.  I have to remind myself of this.

This little adventure has been very different for me.  To be transparent and honest, leaving the stability of an established social sphere, income, and a church family has been the hardest part for me.  I keep telling myself it’s a marathon and not a sprint (with regards to re-establishing our lives).  I am so thankful for the men of God who have reminded me of this recently.  The other thing that has been interesting to work through is my sense of planning.  I know I was designed this way for a reason but God doesn’t need my plan over His will.  I find that morning times are the most difficult with respect to wanting to plan.  It’s a reminder to me and for all of us really that no matter how we are wired or how much of a planner we may be, sometimes the best plan is simply to be refilled by sitting in His presence.  So I choose to embrace this season that God has provided.  I will refill with His word, my family, and my new community.  We believe God has give us a huge vision for our community and we can’t wait for Him to reveal the steps we need to take.  We appreciate you prayers and support!
