Spiritual growth takes intentionality.  As part of setting the tone for 2016, join us at Awaken City Church as we take a five day journey to make space for God in our lives and to mediate on God’s word.  Here is a link to the study.

Day 1: Being a brand new creation means we are ‘new’ in the eyes of the Lord.  When God sees us, He sees us as being justified through the blood of Christ.  If you are anything like me, then you struggle with knowing the person you were or in some cases ‘are’.  As we look at 2016 and growing closer to God, let us be reminded that the word of God changes lives.  Look at this verse:

Col. 3:16 (Amp) – Let the word [spoken by] Christ (the Messiah) have its home [in your hearts and minds] and dwell in you in [all its] richness, as you teach and admonish andtrain one another in all insight andintelligence andwisdom [in spiritual things, and as you sing] psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, making melody to God with [His] grace in your hearts.

This verse reminds us that even as new creations we are encouraged to let the word have a home in our hearts and minds.   I am a firm believer that the word of God changes lives.  The word of God changed my life and it can change yours too.  Make this year the year that you put a priority on getting into the word.  Nothing will encourage you more in your walk with the Lord.
