Life Change: Kristin’s Story

Kristin is a senior this year and is one of our impact student.  She has a passion for missions and a heart for God’s people.  Here is her story from her New Hampshire Experience.

Up there in the mountains beauty itself is manifested unmistakably in God’s creation. It’s laid out plainly and truly that God just IS- He is strength and beauty in one. It was amazing just to have the simple assurance of Him as the setting for our service in New Hampshire.

As I observed the lifestyle of the people in both Lebanon and Brattleboro, my heart ached for those living there without a confident hope, without knowing Jesus. But to see the hope and life that Riverbank Church brought to the community was so exciting! The pastors and staff there are so passionate and trusting in the will of Christ for the sake of the people it was incredible. I learned so much on this trip!

Not only had our team endured physical conflicts such as the bus tire blowing off on the drive up to our destination, but spiritual conflict as well with the community and within ourselves during the trip.

On the second evening I was feeling especially effected in my spirit by the general greyness of the community and burdens and fears brought onto the trip by my team mates and myself, wondering if we were really making a difference there soliciting door hangers and inviting people to check out the church and praying for the city. I was really feeling like I should be doing more. But by thinking that way I was prioritizing in my own mind what was important to God, whose priorities are His own. His priorities concern pure hearts, and through our service I know he worked in the hearts of the people of New Hampshire and Vermont as well as the hearts of the students on our team because we were willing to be used to glorify Him.

One of the verses I was meditating on was Proverbs 3:21-26, which left me with biblical instructions and security. It strengthened me from that second evening on throughout the week!

I am so excited to see what God has planned for Riverbank Church and the people of the New England area, and honored that I got to be a part of His work there this summer. I am forever changed and looking forward to more adventures for Christ in the future!
