This is going to be FUN!

I am always up for a challenge!  When we moved to St. Augustine I looked for ways to get involved in the community.  I naturally looked at road cycling and running clubs (as those are things I love to do).  I also looked at doing cross fit.  I would not say that I am a prototypical gym guy but I do enjoy doing new things.  I reached out to dRIV Fitness (DF) and got connected with them.  What happened next is pretty cool!

Most of you know that my family and I moved here at the end of April to plant Awaken City Church. We essentially parachuted in not knowing a soul.  After my first two training classes at DF I was presented with a unique opportunity.  The St. Augustine Magazine (SAM) contacted DF and wanted to do a follow story on new gym members.  The folks over at DF offered me an opportunity to be one of the follow members (given that I was planting a church).  I obviously said yes and and am proud to say that my fitness and church planting journey will be publicized for the next 6 months in a pretty cool magazine.

I met up with the folks at SAM and am excited to be able to be a part of this.  They are great community minded people. I know God doesn’t make mistakes so I am praying that this opportunity presents people with inspiration not only on the fitness side but also on the spiritual side.  My prayer is that a clear invitation to join the local Jesus community and perhaps be a part of the Local Church is conveyed.  I am planning to document my progress for two reasons.  First, it will hold me accountable and present a step by step picture of my fitness journey.  Second, I believe that this season of church planting will provide an interesting parallel to consider.  I know most people have very BUSY lives…so whether you are planting a church, managing a home, or running a business I plan on exploring the role of fitness in our daily lives.   With that said, the next 6 months my blog will become a place for me to ponder my fitness and church planting journey openly and candidly.  As a side note, I am still running and have a marathon scheduled for November…so my life will integrate crossfit, running, church planting, being a husband, father, and follower of Christ.

My prayer is that we have some great dialog over the next 6 months…I am also praying that we are inspired to live the life that God has called us to.
